Dyslexia Testing/Tutoring - Central Florida (serving Lake Wales and surrounding communities- Winter Haven, Lakeland, Davenport, Haines City, Frostproof, etc.)

Dyslexia CAN be diagnosed and Dyslexia CAN be overcome if you find the right tester and the right tutor.  Debbie Copple, M.S. CCC/SLP, is that person.  She has thorough training and education, along with vast work and personal experiences (a son with dyslexia) which make her highly qualified.

As a Certified Dyslexia Testing Specialist, she is well qualified to diagnose dyslexia and  will write an excellent report which proves dyslexia and contains recommendations on remediation.  The report will also contain classroom accommodations and the evidence and wording needed to get the child a 504 plan or to add the accommodations to an existing IEP.

As a Certified Dyslexia Tutor, she provides effective remediation for struggling and dyslexic individuals (children, teens, and adults).  Do you, or does someone you know, display dyslexia symptoms?  Not sure? Please click on link to view a list of symptoms.

Bright Solutions for Dyslexia explains the criteria and process of testing a child.  This information is provided on the Dyslexia Testing page of our website.

ABOUT US:
Kanga Dyslexia and Therapy Services, Inc., of Lake Wales, Florida, was formed by Debbie Copple, M.S. CCC/SLP, to help those struggling with reading, spelling, and speech/language disorders.

Debbie is a Florida licensed and ASHA certified speech-language pathologist, a Certified Dyslexia Testing Specialist, a Certified Barton Reading and Spelling tutor for dyslexia, and she has completed training in the Lindamood-Bell Phonemic Sequencing Program LiPS®
LiPS®  The LiPS program allows children to focus on the actions of the lip, tongue and teeth for sound production.  It is designed to develop phonemic awareness, reading and spelling.  Research has shown it to be the best predictor of success in learning to read and spell.  This program is used specifically for children who lack the phonemic awareness to begin the Barton Reading and Spelling Program. LiPS® is designed to appropriately teach these children to learn from a concrete level with manipulatives and visual cues to an abstract level of self-correction.

What is Dyslexia?

Dyslexia is a genetic learning disability that makes it extremely difficult to read, spell, and write in your native language. It also sometimes manifests itself by difficulties with arithmetic.  Dyslexia varies in degree from mild to severe. In mild cases, a person may not read or spell as well as his or her peers, while in severe cases, a person may read, write, and spell well below his or her peers. Dyslexia is NOT related to intelligence. In fact, most dyslexic people are average or above average in intelligence.  Dyslexia affects approximately 20% of the population.
What can help?
Individualized multi-sensory approaches, such as the Barton Reading and Spelling system, enable people with dyslexia to use the strengths of their brain to overcome their language processing weaknesses.
